So for the past two years or so, I have sailed through the crafting world, taking note of valuable tutorials, techniques, and an unholy number of inspirations. This particularly simple one came, I think, from Generation T. I made this...

...from this...

Ugh. Super-boring $3 Walmart shirt. It didn't even fit me very well when I first tried it on. But I think the heart cutout either helped with the fit or just distracts the eyes. Wink

There's a quick tute on my blog, if you're interested.

Thanks for looking!

If you wanted to add a sewing element, you could applique a colored block behind the cut-out, which would mean that you wouldn't have to wear 2 shirts (definitely a concern here in the southern states).

Ooh, good point Cynthia, I bet that would help with the issue of the heart kind of riding upwards, too! Maybe I should try that with a second shirt...hehehe...

That would also mean you could do other shapes that wouldn't hold up well other wise. Star? Lightning bolt?

This is really cute. I have a plain blue shirt I think I will try it with.

Thanks, I like you too! I was very inspired by your project, I love the style of shirts I've seen them wear on "Jersey Shore" but they are too trashy because it's pretty obvious that Jwwow just cut hers to show off her boobs. Your version is way better and it's something anyone can wear.
