Lovely paper wrapped pencils make a great gift... for yourself or someone else.  And they really are simple to make!

I used beautiful Japanese papers in a variety of patterns to make my set. (And some Mod Podge, too!)

Thanks for looking!

Ooooh wooow, I'm a sucker for awesome pencils! They're great Cheesy The best part is, if you use one up, you can just make another! This eliminates the hoarding need for keeping awesome ones you don't want to use haha. I think this is a perfect swap-extra or small gift!
I'm curious, is that all there is to it? Just wrap paper around pencils and use some decoupage glue over it?

That's pretty much it - though you'll want to put the glue on both sides of the paper.

Glue one side, wrap the pencil, seal with a layer over the wrapped paper.  I actually blogged the project here, if you'd like better instructions: http://omiyageblogs.blogspot.com/2010/08/diy-pretty-pencils.html

Cheers,
Marisa

The pencils are so pretty, and I also like the tutorial on making Japanese paper dolls.

Great idea! There is a tutorial for paper wrapped pens somewhere around here! You could make a set of matching pens and pencils! I never thought of doing pencils though! I'll have to try it!
