I designed this piece for a new friend who wanted an umbrella theme.
I was inspired by a photograph of a girl jumping, and by the quote "Life is not about surviving the storm, but about learning to dance in the rain"

The background fabric (and swatch used for puddle) were provided by my partner.  This particular shade of blue chambray was a huge pain - none of my transfer paper or pencil colors would show up on it.  Eventually I caved in and used a fine point permanent marker pen with the fabric taped up on a sunny window.
The raindrops and water splash are satin stitched in the same colors as the puddle fabric.

She's wonderful! I love the satin stitched raindrops and the fill stitched umbrella really balances it out nicely.

I love the multicolor raindrops and the brightness of the colors on that blue.  How is the piece going to be used/finished?

Thank you Smiley

xperimental: I have no idea how this piece will be used - it is a piece I stitched up for the Hoop Up! embroidery swap on Flickr.  The fabric was provided by my partner and will be sent back just as an embroidered block.  We each decide how we will use all of our finished pieces.

When I receive my pieces back from my partners (my theme is vintage sideshow), I plan to make a banner, or just frame them as a collection.
