Here's a little softie I made for a special blog-friend, Claudia, and for her son Samuele, called “Topastro” (http://pollon72.blogspot.com/)

I needed some ideas to sew a mouse softie and I found the perfect mix between simplicity and cuteness in this papercut pattern from 3eyedbear.com :

http://www.3eyedbear.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/3eb_golddiggers.pdf

Than I completed the project:
- enlarging the pattern
- adding the coverings of head and body to the pattern
- finding a way to keep the body standing (a stone!)
- finding a way to make the head moving up and down (by pulling the tail!)

I sew a first mouse made of white felt and added some details with a  fabric marker, just to be sure of the final result. My brother took a photo of it:

I was ready! If you want to make it, print the pattern from here

http://www.scribd.com/doc/37375899/Topastro-Softie-Pattern
and:

- cut the parts of the mouse from a duble layer of fabric pinned together: felt (to give support) and a light grey soft felted sweater (external).
- sew a thin ribbon at the centre of the head (the cross in the pattern), to the internal side of the felt: it will be the tail.
- pass the ribbon through the little cut in the back of the head (the asterisk in the pattern)
- sew the head as a cone and sew the back of the head to the head with blanket stitch. Before closing, fill the head with padding
- sew the body as a truncated cone ad sew the top of the body to it, leaving a hole on the back. Pass the ribbon through it (the asterisk in the pattern)

- sew the bottom to the body filling with a little stone and some padding before closing. Leave a hole on the back and pass the ribbon through it (the asterisk in the pattern)
- cut the ribbon the lenght you like (to make the tail), and insert a big bead before making a knot at the end of it
- embroider particulars as teeths, hands, feets, nose, eyes with coloured felt and finish with stem stitch coloured lines.

Have fun!!
.. and... why don't you try the cheese, too?

In the criminal justice system, the people are represented by two separate yet equally important groups. The police who investigate crime and the district attorneys who prosecute the offenders. These are their stories.
