So basically what I have is an old cabinet TV, the kind where it was all wood with the dials on the side the cabinet had legs and that sort of thing. It is all gutted and the screen is removed. What I want to do is mold or model something that I can put in place of the screen to make it look as though something is pushing our from inside the TV, like this: http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h205/death_on_ii_legs/th_videodrome.jpg
Any suggestions on a compound that I could use?

I'm thinking paper mache might be a good light weight and cheep option. If you build up whatever shape id coming out of it, and the layer it up with paper mache, you could probably take the structure out from underneath and it would be super light weight- OR you could use plaster bandages. they should sell them at craft stores for mask making.

hope that helps
