Hmm... I have tons of old, unusable markers and tons of ribbon...

I wonder if, once the markers have been woven together, if pouring something into the base to 'cement' them in place would make it stronger? Maybe some kind of plaster or resin?

I'm on vacation this week, so I'll be trying this, although I don't have anything the try the pouring into the base thing... the only change I think I'll make is to leave the caps off the markers so we can see the tips.

That is awesome.  My mom is a sunday school teacher and is always having to go through her markers to find the dried out ones.  I'll have to tell her to keep them so I can make that.
