A new Flickr friend and I are doing a private swap in our chosen themes.  She is doing Wizard of Oz, and mine is Vintage Sideshow (see my earlier Dolly Dimples piece)
What she REALLY wanted was an embroidered picture of Miss Gulch on her bicycle from the first part of the movie.

I agreed to the task and THEN realized that there are no coloring pages or decent line art of Miss Gulch available online.  I had to sketch my own based on several movie stills.

The sketch is not perfect, but I am pretty pleased with it overall.
The colors I chose for the stitching are based on the official 1997 Hallmark holiday keepsake ornament as all photo references of this scene are in b&w or sepia.

I tried out several different stitches for this piece for texture - outlined mostly in split stitch, I also used backstitch, feather, basketweave, a long weave, satin stitch, etc.

Her dress is lightly tinted with Progresso pencils.
C&C are always welcome.

She's wonderful! I adore the basket weave. Her hair turned out so great too. I love the slight tinting. Really makes the dress pop.

Hugs Smiley Ty everyone.  She was a challenge and a joy to stitch.
