I made this dress for my birthday... in March. I cut out hundreds of yellow circles, pinked the edges and then sewed them in rows to a really simple sheath (made from Simplicity Pattern 2725, another attempt at which you can see here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=305021.msg3492353#msg3492353)

I love it. I haven't tried laundering it yet, should be interesting. I purposefully left the circles unfinished to allow for the decomposition of form... a somewhat morbid birthday concept.

I had an awesome birthday. Here are some gratuitous birthday festivity shots:

Cupcakes in cake cones and my amazing Dairy Queen ice cream cake. When I picked it up from DQ the two teen girls working there were *very* excited to meet the person who had ordered such a glorious cake. The 29-year-old person Smiley

Thanks for looking!

That is a freakin' awesome dress!  If I had any patience, I would want one in pink.  But I am, shall we say, a deluxe cupcake and it would take many circles to cover this booty!!

Are the circles cotton?

Awesome!

Are the circles cotton?

I think so... I had about three yards of this yellow fabric. It's not like stretchy t-shirt cotton, but I think it is cotton.

I just turned 30 and my husband bought me the Squishables.com octopus Cheesy
So I say your pegasus rainbow cake is just fantastic!

And that dress is fantastic, too. I think I could sew the circles on, or cut the circles out..but I don't think I'd have the patience to do both Cheesy
