I have no idea if this is quite the right section. This item sort of fits into so many sections, actually. I recently started making handmade journals. The covers are the thing I'm most proud of, since they're done using the Teesha Moore method to start, but I think mine have a very different character than hers do. Mine include handpainted squares along with the quilted parts. The designs are all mine.

I'll post some pix below, with most of the details on the photos.

This last one is nearly done. It just needs the pages laced in with ribbon, and a couple finishing details on the cover, such as the button closure.

Thanks! I don't think the pictures really do these justice. I've yet to see someone who looks at these in person who's able to resist picking it up and ruffling the fringe on the spine and touching all the bits of the cover. It's a very tactile project. (As my aching fingers will attest!)

I discovered tonight when I went to add the paper to the mercat book that the holes on the interior flaps are misplaced somehow. Ugh! So I've torn those out and I'm starting over on them with fresh materials. Once they're done I'll have to re-stitch them in and then add the paper. Very disappointing.

I may not be perfect, but I'm so close it's almost eerie.

These are all beautiful. You really have taken the basic construction and made it your own.
I just finished watching all her videos on YouTube and can't wait to give this a try.
I love your idea of stabilizing the covers, I really didn't like the floppy covers over the rigid pages. I was thinking of using cardboard, but duh plastic canvas would work so much better... thanks!
