I'm not sure if this is a new idea, but it is something I've been thinking about for some time....
I REALLY want to make my girls an eye spy quilt (maybe even a queen sized one!). I was inspired by these quilts made by Summertimerolls
More detail in her post here:http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=316785.msg3647796#msg3647796
BUT I'm struggling to afford to buy enough material to get enough different fussy cut squares.
I was hoping to make it from 2" square fussy cut squares (ie you cut the fabric to capture a specific part of the pattern)
Is anyone else interested in doing a swap like this? I suppose the size of the squares that you require could be negotiable (ie you might want 5" squares) as long as the same amount of material was sent in total. say 1 or 2 square feet? (1 square foot = 12" by 12" would work out to be 36 two inch squares)
The mechanics of how the groups would work would need to be worked out too. Maybe you could request to be partnered with 1, 2, 3 4 or even 5 other people (obviously depending on the number of participants involved).
I'm also thinking that we would need to request that the fabric be prewashed by the sender before cutting otherwise we would either have to try to wash 2" squares of material
or end up with wonky quilts at the end.
Would love some feedback...any one interested? If we don't get enough interest to do an organised swap, would anyone be interested in a personal swap
I'd be really happy to organise, but would need to wait a couple of weeks before the start of signups as I'm not qualified to organise until I get feedback from another swap!. (also will be away 12-24th sept, so please feel free to chat and I'll catch up on my return). I'm thinking a 3-4 week turn around from partnering to sending would be enough time to buy / find, wash & cut fabric and parcel to post?
