Hello Craftster!

I have a prom dress from several years ago that I want to recon.

I am wearing the sea-green dress. It has a sequined slightly-boned top and a not-terribly-flared ankle- length skirt that consists of that satiny stuff that prom dresses are always made of, and a layer of chiffon over that. The dress no longer fits around the waist/hips.

I am planning on turning the top into a corset with the idea from Subversive Seamster- basically, make button holes and lace up.* The chiffon I want to do up like this: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=88824.0 soon. But, what to do with the skirt? I am vaguely thinking tube (or halter) dress, possibly, but I will fully admit I am not a seamstress. Any recommendations for a three-footish long skirt besides a skirt? Is the only way to make it work to sew in an invisible zipper, or could I add elastic into the top and belt it? Any recommendations that will leave me looking fierce rather than sausage-like?

*Is this supportive? Anyone ever try this on a corset top?
