I couldn't find the perfect swimsuit so I bought a tankini (on sale) and made it into the Retro High Waist Bikini that I wanted!  Now I only have to wait one more month before our beach vacation!

Before:  Ok-ish, but nothing great

The original tied behind the neck which tends to give me a terrible headache.  I crossed the neck straps in the back, stitched 'em down, and tied the dangling ends into a cute knot/bow.  I replaced the original ties at the chest with a bow of the fabric of the skirt.  Obviously, I chopped of the original waist and hemmed to the shorter length.  I attached the chopped off waist from the top to the bottoms to create a flattering high waist bottom.  I pleated and attached the skirt portion, then cut out "scales" and scattered about in a pleasing pattern and stitched on.  I haven't "tested" it in the water yet, but my little boy has been asking to get out the kiddy pool so maybe we can test it then.
