Add to what stacysews about lovesclutter's question about stabilizer...

I use it to back pieces of large embroidery. When you have stitching going in all different directions, your fabric can pucker if it's not heavy enough to handle that amount of stitch and tension. The stabilizer will fix that problem for the most part. I've used it in both hand and machine stitched pieces. Smiley

just wanted to check in! my partner and I have been chit chatting every few days. I havent been crafting at all because my husband is leaving soon for afganistan, he is gonna be gone for a year  Embarrassed Ive been a wreck!! and probably will be for a while!

I do have all my crafts sketched out and I also have all my crazy awesome epic stocking sketched out as well  Grin

Grin TIS gonna be AWESOME!!!  Grin (thanks for your patience)
I'm sorry to hear your husband is leaving, I'm sure you'll get through it. When my husband was in the army crafting helped me take my mind off of it a lot. I get to buy all my supplies in a few days Grin once I have all my supplies I can really get crafting.

Ok, sezouli....I wrote that little teaser specifically for the reason so that even though I was writing about a mattress instead of a vacation, there was also a little note in there about this swap.  Wink  But since you insist on teasing me.... Roll Eyes...I should wrap up your swap items like those people do when they have a really small item in the smallest box, but they wrap it in bigger and bigger and bigger boxes just to drive the person crazy!   Roll Eyes

BTW...I stared at those two photos for minutes, trying to figure out what the heck they could be!   Tongue

Oh, and also BTW and FYI  Grin, those items that I made last night (while wearing my PJ's stitting on the couch, watching a DVD of The Office), well, they came out cooler than I thought, and I ended up making SEVEN of them!

So there!  Cheesy

Thanks for all the tips on the stabilizer. I decided to make the stocking without it. I did my drawing on newspaper, cut it out and used it for a pattern. I will have some embellishements, but overall pleased with the result. Now to figure out some little crafty things to put inside. Back to the wists. Cool

I ditto the "crafting is my coping mechanism". When my husband was in Iraq, I, too, crafted like a maniac.  At first it feels like forever, but then you realize it's not too long. I'll be thinking of you!

I feel for you guys, my hubby is deploying in Feb so we are enjoying the time we have together. It doesn't help that I work days and he works nights. And next week he will be gone for 10 days of training. Bleh, army life I suppose Wink

Anyways, I have been super busy with my new job and working two jobs. I have managed to craft and shop just a tiny bit but didn't have a second to post on the board. Don't worry though, I am kicking it into high gear for the holidays. I always craft more when hubby is gone Smiley
