Here's my first mug rug (roughly 7x7 inches), I made it as practice for someone on another site. It's much improved over my first art quilt I made for someone here on Craftster. I still have to work on the corner of my bindings, but the curves are SOOOOO much better. I'm usually a "I'll try to figure it out on my own" type of person, but I've discovered it helps to read how to do it FIRST :-)

And here it is with a big mug on it, although the photo makes the mug look GIANT.

Fun!

That's so pretty! It reminds me of a Chinese fan. But it's gorgeous! I too, am a beginning quilter. And I too, need to work on my binding. But this looks awesome!

That is a fantastic idea!  I really like the colors and how it looks under the mug.  It would be a great way to use up some scraps.  Great job!

Great Job! Pretty AND practical. The colors really caught my eye.
It's nice to see an unusual shape, too.

What a great idea for a mug rug!
I just scored a slew of books at the library (yay for library book sales!) and scored a great Japanese inspired quilt pattern book - and I can totally see following in your footsteps - just fabulous and fun!

pwn - you would have been my nemesis at that book sale - I got every single one of the paper piecing books! Cheesy
I got 19 book for $22 I think I ended up with.  Yay!  I'm so excited !  It's killing me knowing that I can't start on any of them for at least 3 or 4 weeks Sad
