My summer project: Bubble Art!

It has been a long time since I posted but I am excited to present what I have been working on this summer. Now really, this should have and could have only taken me a weekend but since my summer was busy and long I just worked on it when I had the time. The concept came from the house of a friend of the child I babysit for. I saw it and instantly fell in love with it and the little girl informed me that the pieces are movable because the whole thing is magnetic. Which means the way the piece looks changes all the time which is kind of Awesome. I was also informed by the babysitter that it was custom made and VERY expensive which I didn't understand since it's so simple. So I said, I can make that for less then $50. So I did. I had the paint so all I did was buy a smaller metal white bored at Ikea for $20 and got some round discs 1 1/2 and 2 inches and painted them. I kept used Blue, orange, green and yellow since that's what I had the most colors of and they match my room. I might add colors later on. The original piece had more colors but it was also larger. Each dot got 2 to 4 coats of paint with sanding in between. Then they were modpodged and sprayed with acrylic spray. I'm planning to make one for a friend for Christmas using rainbow colors. I am so proud of how it came out and I can't wait to hang it up. Here it is, my Bubble Art:

this is great, and better than the original I might add. The big 1 looks far too crowed & you can't really apreciate it - yours is lovely, and you can see the shapes & textures more clearly.

That's awesome!  I want one now too!  I wonder where I can find a magnetic white board that isn't Ikea....

Ha, I just did research on magnetic paint and laid out the whole idea to my husband.  We're going to do it up the stairs at our house.  Thanks so much for the fantastic idea.
