My sister and I hosted a Mad Hatter Tea Party. I was inspired to make a wonderland dress. I started with a plain gray sundress from Target. I used 7 different fabrics to make yards and yards of vertical ruffles! The neckline was a bit low and I really didn't want to mess with a strapless bra so i bought a plain nude bra and covered in with a light dusty pink lace from an old lace top I couldn't stand to get rid of. I covered the bra straps in lace ruffles and ruched the center front to make a Cami Bra. I get to use the Cami Bra a lot! Oh yeah, I also whipped up a HUGE bow for the party.

Cami Bra: I sewed a lace panel across a nude bra by machine on the sides, then tucked under and hand stiched the bottom.  Ruffled two strips of lace and machine sewed to straps (I adjusted the strap length before hand, they are no longer adjustable.  I don't like "bra hardware" showing and really wanted it to look like a Cami not a Bra)  I did not cover the back as it did not show and hasn't been visible on anything else I have worn it with.

I didn't want my creation to sit in the closet, so I layered it over a casual tank top to make it more wearable.  I wore it to church this way and everybody liked it (they're used to me dressing a bit "over the top")

What a cute dress! I love the colors in the ruffles and I dig the cami-bra idea.
And what a fun thing to do it for! I want to have a Mad Hatter Tea Party now Smiley. How clever.
