I am going to try homeschooling my daughter this year and we wanted some Montessori style toys for motor skills. So I made some pretty standard boards for the monkey to use. Within 2 hours of making them she was able to tie her shoe, which we had been working on for months. Something about doing it on the board just seemed to make it click.

I made this one first and from felt then quickly realized that felt was maybe not the best fabric choice, it doesn't bounce back well.

A braiding board with three fleece ribbons to practice braiding with.

A buttoning board

They may not be perfect but they coast less than $5 to make and it took less than an hour to make.
