Details of swap:
This swap was organized so everyone can get something crafty for their birthday! Please read the guidelines carefully.
1. This swap is list style, like the Ongoing Wishlist Swap, however it is NOT chain style. You can choose any birthday Craftster’s list that is posted, rather than only being able to pick from the last one posted like in the OWS.
2.
This is a medium item swap
. A medium item is defined as a craft or recon, etc that takes you two hours to complete OR $20 worth of Store Bought Items. (If bought from a thrift store, estimate at what it would have cost new.) However you may also substitute a few small items for a medium.
3. If
your birthday is in swap's current month
, you can post your birthday wish list for this month. To do that, you must first PM me with the swap questionnaire filled out and wait for approval. While you're waiting, be sure to post in the discussion/gallery thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358288.0
4. Once you have been approved, you may post your list of things that you would like to receive. This is the format for your lists: First post your location and a short bio of yourself, then a list of crafted items you would like, then craft supplies (if any) and lastly you can put a few “extras” that aren’t crafted, things like candy or tea. Remember, the more items on your list, the more likely you are to be chosen. The minimum of items to post is five. Also including your wists is a good way for people to get the idea of your likes and style. If you have any allergies please type them in red in your bio section. Please see "Tips to Creating a Good List" below
5. Please post lists only in this thread. Discussion can be done here in the combined discussion/gallery thread:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358288.0
Please be sure to post here so that you can be part of the discussion and receive. You will not be approved until you have posted in the discussion thread.
6.
Every birthday participant must make at least one claim
. You may have up to two claims at a time, unless you are an FOC or a first time swapper, and then you can claim again once your items are received (not when you mail out). New swappers may only have one outstanding claim; they may claim again after their first claim is received. FOC's may have 3 outstanding claims at a time. Claims need to be made from the "crafted" and "craft supplies" sections of a person's list. The "extras" are just that--extra items you may want to throw in if you are feeling generous, but claims cannot be solely extras. Keep it crafty :-) (I'm asking that if you are sending mostly supplies, that you craft a little something for the bday babe, even if it's a handmade card.)
7. You may get claimed more than once, but your minimum amount to claim is one. It is possible you may not get claimed at all. In this case you will not be provided a swap angel; angels are only if you get flaked on. However I do my best to make sure everyone gets claimed by keeping track of how many times each person is claimed.
If possible try to pick someone who has been claimed 0 times versus someone who has been claimed 3 times.
8.
If it is not your birthday but you would like to send
a birthday present out you may do so. Fill out the “non-birthday swapper” questionnaire and send it to me for approval. Birthday swappers who receive a present from a non-birthday swapper must send a snail mail thank you card. You will not receive feedback until I hear from the other swapper that they have received a thank you card.
9. When you choose to fulfill a birthday wish, PM both the organizer AND the chosen Craftster. At that time, please request the address from the receiver for where to send it. After that you have 2 weeks to get the item out the door.
10. It is super important for everyone to keep good communication. It is REQUIRED that you PM me when you've sent and of course, don't forget the DC#. It is REQUIRED that when you receive, you PM me and publicly announce in the gallery (even if you don't have pictures). If you do not send the appropriate pm’s you will receive “poor communication feedback.
11.
When one of your items is chosen, please cross it out
so that it is easier for others to see what has been chosen. (It wouldn't hurt to thank the person at this time either.)
12. If you are sending late you must PM me by your send-out date. If your send-out date comes and goes and you don’t PM me, you will receive “poor communication” feedback. It should not be my job to hunt you down and find out what is going on.
13. *
New Rule
* If you are flaked on in this swap you will receive an angel, but only in the amount of packages to which you also sent out. For instance, if you send out 2 packages, and are claimed for 3 packages but are flaked on once, you will not receive an angel because you already received 2 packages, which is equal to what you sent. If you send 1 package and are claimed for 1 package and you are flaked on, you will receive 1 angel.
Please make sure to put “September Birthday Swap” or something equivalent in the subject line on all communications. The most important thing to me is communication. Please PM me when you send and receive, and please reply to my PM's to you in a timely manner.
If you format your pm's like this, I'll love you forever.
Format for PM's:
Proper label:
"September Bday Swap" and either "Sign-up," "Claim," "Sent," "Received," or "Question"
When sending sent and received pm's include the send-by date, listed in the second post of the main thread, your user name, their user name and the item. Just copy and past the info from the second post if you want!:
Send by September 14
MareMare to kittykill--handmade soap and lotion
Outstanding claims allowed:
FOC's: 3 at a time
First time swappers: 1 at a time
Everyone else: 2 at a time
Become an FOC~

TIPS TO CREATING A GOOD LIST
It seems that every month there is someone whose list languishes for a while. I want everyone to get picked so here are some tips for a well-round list:
--Make sure your items are actually mediums and smalls. Quilts are not mediums. Large painted portraits are not mediums. Hand knit sweaters are not mediums. This isn’t to say that you can’t have any large items on your list (some generous soul may have the time and the inclination to choose one of those!), but the majority of the list should be smaller items
--Listing “A surprise” plus a well filled out Craftster profile and a link to your wists (with a decent amount of items on it) is always helpful in getting chosen
--Make sure to post a variety of crafting techniques. If you list appliquéd t-shirts in five various themes and count that as your required five items, that is more like one item for someone to choose, not five. Having various crafting methods (sewn, knit, crocheted, paper crafted, jewelry, etc.) is going to make it easier for people to choose you.
--Check out other lists in past Bday swaps and the Ongoing Wishlist Swap for ideas for things you never knew you wanted!
If you want to SIGN UP TO POST YOUR BIRTHDAY LIST:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER (BIRTHDAY SWAPPERS):
Name of swap- September 2010 Birthday Swap
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name & Address (formatted for mailing):
When is your birthday?
Have you read and understand all of the rules to this swap?
Are you willing to send at least a medium item per claim?
(If not then you will not be approved.)
Are you at least 16 years old? Yes/No
Who and what do you claim for crafting? If you do not know yet/it's the beginning of the swap you have 1 week after being approved to claim someone:
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
Have you posted in the discussion thread already? If you say yes and haven't I will not approve you. If you say no I will not approve you. Discussion thread found here:
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=358288.0
Yes/No
Quiz: What do you have to do if someone who is a non-bday swapper sends you a gift?
Quiz 2: How long do you have to send out after making your claim?
If it is NOT your birthday and you want to SEND TO A BIRTHDAY CRAFTSTER:
QUESTIONNAIRE TO ANSWER:
Name of swap- August 2010 Birthday Swap (Non-Bday Craftster)
Craftster username:
Email address:
Real name:
Mailing address, including country and properly formatted for shipping:
Chosen craftster and item (if you know):
If shipping within the US, I agree to obtain a DC#: Yes/No
If shipping from outside of US, I agree to provide a copy/scan of my mailing receipt. Yes/No
I understand that I will be getting a thank you card and not a package for this swap. Yes/No
IF YOU WANT TO PARTICIPATE, REMEMBER TO SEND YOUR INFO TO THE ORGANIZER VIA PM AND NOT TO REPLY WITH IT HERE.
Also remember to read the
Swap Info Guide
to find out how to ship your item and other details about participating in a swap.
Please make sure to post in the combined Gallery/Discussion Thread to keep up with updates

Hi! My name is Chris and on September 30th I will be turning
29
. OK, fine, really 35.
I live in the USA and have been a member of Craftster since way back in June of 05. If I'm not at the studio throwing clay, I am in my garage cutting & fusing glass. I dabble in a little of everything and have the supplies to prove it. Sewing, embroidery, mosaicing, love it all. I'm also a sucker for chick flicks, 80's hair metal(CRUE!) and chick lit. More info in my profile & lengthy wists. No allergies. I've never done a birthday swap, so here's my list. Thanks in advance!
CRAFTED
Stenciled/Embroidered Days of the Week Kitchen towels(to channel my inner 50's housewife)
Any Embroidered Kitchen Towels
Thanks luckdragon!
Stenciled/Embroidered Set of 8 Napkins I LOVE these:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/41962837/last-full-set-of-orange-mustaches-on
Handmade Soap(I only do MP, I would love some "real" stuff
)
Thanks Missing Willow!
But MORE HP or CP soap is always a-ok with me.
Zippered wristlet( my friends always laugh at the "Baby" purses I like to carry)
Stenciled/Embroidered Set of Pillowcases, I have a few examples in my wists:
http://www.wists.com/craftygurl/all/?tag2=&offset=0&searchme=
or any others with the theme of trees, birds, sugar skulls.
Rings like these on my etsy favorites:
http://www.etsy.com/your/favorite/listings
size 7
Bracelets with toggle clasps. I like silvertone, simple, ideas in my wists & etsy favorites. Thanks CraftyStoner!
my wrist is 6.5".
Patchwork Table runner with modern fabrics for a 6 foot long table (my Dining Room is purple)
Decorated Hand Towels(gray, burgundy & white are the colors of my bath)
Simple Hand-Carved Stamps(Tree, Dandelion, nature themed) Thanks CraftyStoner!
Wisty Surprise
Thanks CraftyStoner!
SUPPLIES
Ring blanks
Bails
Any Glass Fusing Supplies(I use COE 96 Glass)
Japanese/Ikea Fabrics
Embroidery Hoops(to start an embroidered hoop wall)
Rubber Stamps for Pottery
(trees, birds, simple design work best in clay) Thanks MissingWillow!
E6000
(you can NEVER have enough
) Thanks MissingWillow!
Any questions, just ask! Looking forward to seeing the other lists from all the September Birthday babes.

Hi, I'm Connie. My birthday is September 6th, I am going to be 53 this year (yikes!). I'm a retired engineer. I live on a farm in the mountains of SW Virginia with my husband, 5 dogs, 10 sheep, 8 dairy goats, 34 chickens and 75,000 honey bees. We have a greenhouse, I sell at our local farmer's market every week. Our farm is named Missing Willow Farm because a beaver hauled off my 50th birthday weeping willow tree within a week of getting it planted. I'm still bitter about it...
I'd love
something to hang on a wall
(THANK YOU SO MUCH, GEBAH!)
that features any of the breeds of animals we're raising. If you need photos of any of our animals for reference, please PM me. Although, the bees aren't very good about sitting for individual portraits.
We raise:
Texel sheep
Nubian goats
Oberhasli goats
Border collie
Great pyrenees
Karakachan (dog)
Bees
I love mixed media curios/shrines/altered art
A ceramic piece (I have a few favorites on my wist)
THANK YOU SO MUCH, crafty gurll!
Something vintage Halloweeny to display
Wine colored knitted mittens to match a hat I received in a swap (my hands measure 7.5 inches)
Knitted socks or slippers in a jewel tone color (my feet measure 9 inches)
Something with sheep on it
A wisty surprise
http://wists.com/missingwillow
Supplies I'd love to receive:
Scribbles paint (any color)
Bails
Reptile eyes
A ouija board (I have a future project in mind and can't find one)
Silver colored charms
White or black Preemo polymer clay
Extras:
Seeds saved from your garden
THANKS AGAIN, crafty gurll!
Flavored coffee
Red licorice
Many thanks in advance for claiming me!

Hats to cover my awful hair cut ><
Fantasy / Fairy Art for my smoking lounge
Geek chic Jewelery or clothing
thanks Triissyy! <3

Head bands
Clothes for my Dollfies (2 yosd, 2 MSD, 1 DD)
A Bong Cozy.

About me: Hello. I'm Chelsea. I'm turning twenty on September 21st. D: I live just outside Kansas City Missouri.
I have a lot of very close, wonderful friends. I go through more than a hundred sticks of incense in a normal month. I love scented things. My name is Karen and I live in Austin, TX with my teenaged dd (who typically ends up with most of my swap items
), a huge, goofy lab-mix and a lovely, prissy cat. My birthday is Sept 8 and I will be…um…hmm…40-something. Since this is MY birthday, I’ve taken everything off of my list that was for my daughter! So goodies for me!
I love designs from the 60's and early 70s (think mod & flower power). I used to have a 1974 VW Thing and I miss it a lot! I also love Asian designs in fabric and artwork. I was born in the year of the Dragon and I just love them! And English Bulldogs (cute, not fierce). I love anything magical/wonderous including fairies and Alice in Wonderland. Also, pretty much any Amy Butler fabric.
Craft-wise, I mostly sew, but I also create jewelry, knit/crochet a bit, and will try most things at least once (if it looks fun!).
I would love anything from my wist :
www.wists.com/luckdragon
but especially the things below. I prefer practical things that can be used. My favorite colors are bolder/earthy tones to 60’s mod. Blues/greens/tangerine/black/white/deep red (again, examples in my wist). Please no pastels or neons!
I have no allergies, but please, if you are a smoker, keep it away from the crafts!
Things in
purple
= BIG WISH
Thanks you in advance for picking me!! and
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Hello! My name is Vanessa and I'll be turning 24 on September 23. I live in Jersey City, New Jersey with my mom, dad, and older sister. I recently finished college with a degree in Journalism and right now I freelance for a local news website. Since working freelance isn't always steady work, I find myself with a lot of free time. I like knitting, crochet, everything about the Japanese culture, video gaming, and wasting time with this wonderful thing we called the Internet. Ever since going to Japan for the first time in July I've been wishing that I was still there so I've been watching a lot of Japanese TV and reading Japanese news. I'm also a big fan of TV in general, my favorite shows are How I Met Your Mother, the Big Bang Theory, LOST, Mad Men, and many others. Some of my favorite video games are Super Mario games, Pokemon (Love everything about Pokemon!), Katamari Damacy, and Grand Theft Auto titles. My favorite color is red and the only thing that bothers me slightly is angora yarn.
Crafted:
Any crocheted Pokemon character. I'm a big Pokemon fan.
Amigurumis of lovable characters
Homemade body scrubs
Knitted or crocheted funky looking hat
Gothic jewelry
Fingerless gloves
Thanks v3nu5 and AlyssaKnits
A maid headdress (I want to maid cosplay for Halloween)
Supplies:
Japanese Noro
Chunky yarns
Felt
Amigurumi eyes
F and K crochet hooks
Extras:
Slim Jims – I am a big fan of Slim Jims and in my area it's hard to find different and new flavors. It's my guilty pleasure snack.
Chocolate
Indian Spices
Pokemon cards
Birthday cards
