As for crayon tinting, I think everyone should try it! It amazingly easy and can add a lot of depth to your needlework. I've even tinted a piece after the stitching was done and it turned out really cool. Smiley

I've only ever crayon tinted after the stitching is done.  I guess it would be much easier to do the tinting first, but I guess when you start doing something one way, you just tend to stick with it.

I have a couple of pieces of crayon tinting in my profile under My Favorites by Me. My absolute favorite (so far) is the Pooh piece, which has a sister piece which is Piglet. Smiley

Jemimah received the hoop I made her, but is having camera difficulties so I'm going to post pictures.

One of the themes she listed was Japanese, and she also likes vintage styles, and I found a vintage Asian-themed embroidery pattern at http://averagejanecrafter.blogspot.com/2008/03/last-bits-of-my-vintage-embroidery.html.  I rearranged the elements to work as a circle instead of a rectangle.

One does not simply walk into Mordor. Its black gates are guarded by more than just orcs. There is evil there that does not sleep. The great eye is ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very air you breathe is a poisonous fume.......

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.
