This is my first completed cross stitch ( I'm actually working on a rather larger piece as well but needed a break). It is my homage to one of my most favorite genres of music, folk punk. It's not anything fancy but I like it's simplicity and discovered that letters are way fun to cross stitch.

If you've never heard of the genre before I highly suggest you check it out. It's changed my life.

Folk punk?  Sounds interesting.  I'd like to check it out.  Who would you suggest?

Nice piece, btw!

Oh why thank you! I would highly recommend checking out Defiance, Ohio ( my very favorite), any of Against Me! 's older stuff, I would say from the album Reinventing Axl Rose on back, Rosa, and another favorite of mine, Alliaceous.

Let me know if you do!

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them all out.  And, I'm assuming you mean that there's a band called "Defiance, Ohio" and not that I should check out the town, right?  My hometown isn't all that far from the actual town of Defiance, Ohio and I no idea there was a band named after it!  I think the high school I graduated from probably still plays against them in some sports! ;-)

Great first stitch!
The font is really great. Smiley Simplicity is great when its used well, and you nailed it.
I listen to Flogging Molly sometimes. Not so much anymore, but I appreciate it!

Having done some pieces to celebrate punk rock I totally appriciate and love this piece. Plus it's always hard for me to not put a heart on all of my pieces. I really like the font and colors you chose.

Also, Andrew Jackson Jihad, anyone!  Wink

Thanks everyone!

Haha yeah Defiance, Ohio is also a band and part of a movie title which I have never seen.

I've listened to Flogging Molly but am not into them so much, but they have good instrumentals!

Yes! I've seen your work before and have to admit that I am slightly jealous of your talent, okay really jealous. Maybe one day I will be as good as you. Hearts are my default embellishment when all else fails!

I was also going to mention AJJ but then I would have to list another five or six more bands, haha.

Thanks for all the feedback it really encourages me to do more.
