They both sound good...Maybe I can get enough done over the next few weeks to give as "extras" in swaps too  Wink

I have a truck load ready to pics and I am so erked..I called the shelters, soup kitchens and the foodbanks and NOONE will take them even if they pick them or watch us pic them Sad Breaks my heart to know they could go bad when American's my neighbors are hungry and they could be a great free treat Sad

Around here, we have churches that do free meals for elderly once a week or so. I bet if you call them, they might take your offer. Smiley

I'm not sure if they have it in your area but they have a thing called Plant a Row for the Hungry, my friend had a little garden in her back yard that exploded with produce and after giving everything she had to neighbors, friends and the occasional passerby, she called them.
I found this info but you'll probably need to do more research

http://www.gardenwriters.org/gwa.php?p=par/index.html

I hope this link works, but if not, google Plant a Row.

also MissCraftyFingers just posted a thing here on pressed apple juice, I'm sure it could maybe work for pears?

My whole area is filled to the brim with Pears LOL ROTFL...I I am going to pick the trees over the next 5 days and can like nobody's business...I suspect that when a hurricane comes my neighbors will be glad I did!

I did find a guy that will trade me for figs so that is awesome Smiley

I am going to start tomorrow as I am allergic to bees and with the DH being on duty I cant just deal with getting stung with the kids here...

I was going to suggest you try to barter or swap.
Maybe on craigslist ?

My Gram used to can pears & sweet cherries together, very tasty! We called them pink pears.

You can roast them with your turkey come Thanksgiving. Thats what I did last year and it came out quite tasty! And it may be a little different, but how about a pear pie instead of an apple pie? Could be interesting.

Well with the hurricane on us I went out yesterday to strip the trees as they are projectiles and can really do some harm to cars, windows etc... Well, who knew the damn animals would not share at all they striped the trees and the pecan tree in my neighbors was too...then I was told in walmart getting our hurricane supplies that back in the day that is how coastal people knew they were within 48 hours of a storm the animals would strip the trees Glad there not going hungry but dang they could have left a few good ones.....
