I've been determined to overcome my fear of sewing knit fabrics, so I've been practicing making  some dresses for Miss Four to wear to preschool. Took about four goes to get the fit right (my patternmaking is a bit rusty) but I am SO pleased with the results! I especially love the fact that she is going to have appropriate protection from the sun (just about ALL summer dresses in the shops are sleeveless) AND they don't look slutty or plastered with Dora the Explorer, etc. (shudders)

Dress 1 and 2 I forgot to take a "before shot"... this one was from an old man's surf T-shirt I bought at St Vinnie's. The ruffle at the bottom was some cotton lycra I bought on the cheap and my first attempt at gathering.

This one was from a woman's long-sleeved top I saw at the Salvo's today and just had to buy. I knew she'd love the colour and the diamonte star.

This dress started out as a teen's summer cross-over dress...

Now it's a cute strappy sun-dress...
