Soft doll advice? Can anyone help me work this out please? Bunka doll.

I cannot find any tute's online at all...the only one I did uncover was in Japanese and I'm not a good enough seamstress to work it out from pictures alone....I have looked and looked online too!

From what I can gather, they are made of some kind of stretchy fabric...the heads are gathered from fabric, stuffed and tied off...then painted with features.

Can anyone help me with a pattern or tute for a similar body? I LOVE these little dolls..they appeal to my love of kitsch!

I was thinking of making one too, maybe we should both give it a try and compare notes! This artist http://tanpopo0118.deviantart.com/ on deviantART makes them, and gives a few pictures as a 'tutorial' - they are not a pattern but might help provide some tips. It seems that a bonnet and those big painted eyes are characterisitc of a Bunka doll. I guess you can use most any doll pattern and adapt it.
