I want to make a batch of cp soap for Halloween, I already made a pumpkin spice but I would love just a plain orange scent and color it orange and a black scent, maybe anise but how could I color these orange and black naturally?  Suggestions?

OH I am all over this.

For an orange soap, use red palm oil instead of refined palm.  I found mine at an African grocery shop, but there might be some online.

For natural black, the best I can think of is activated charcoal (check Whole Foods; it'll probably be a dietary supplement).  It's pricey, but nice to have, and gives you a great natural black that won't dye your wash cloth.

I KNOW I AM GREAT.

potentially dumb question here, lol. But other than coloring soap, is charcoal an exfoliant? moisturizer?

A... clarifier?  I guess.  It's extremely fine and has absorptive properties (it's been used to treat poisonings for centuries, the idea being that it absorbs the poison before the intestinal wall can!) (fun fact!).  In soaping it makes a nice black bar that absorbs excess oil from the skin without being super drying.  It's great for facial soaps.

Rock on! I'm gonna have to get some and try it in my mp soaps....from all the humidity in WNY lately I swear you could see the shine on my face from the moon! Tongue

Not to mention that halloween is my favorite holiday, so the idea of black soap is highly appealing Grin

I'm also planning on taking a roadtrip to WSP in October with my Mom for soap and candle supplies....oh boy my poor car is gonna be loaded with stuff!
