This is the first time I did tapestry crochet, and I made Audrey Hepburn for my partner I Sew Cute in the FOC Wist swap! Audrey is my favorite actress, and one of I Sew Cute’s favorite actresses!

I decided to line the back with mushroom fabric, because I hated how messy the crochet came out of the back! Lol

Couple progress shots.

And since I didn’t actually measure it, here is a pic of it with I Sew Cute’s daughter for size comparison!

This is the first tapestry crochet I’ve ever done, and I will definitely recommend if you want to do tapestry crochet, practice on something little first, like a dishcloth! There are far less tears when you have to frog 30 rows 2 times of a dishcloth, rather than 30 rows 2 times on an Audrey Hepburn blanket!

There is free software at http://www.microrevolt.org/knitPro/, and there are some really awesome craftsters who can make their own graphs.
I bought this particular graph from http://www.etsy.com/transaction/30935302 , because the free software program was not getting me the quality I wanted for this particular picture.

Awesome!!!!  I love the back lining idea as well!  So how long did this take you all together (or would you rather not count....Smiley)?

Wow!  I've never done anything of this magnitude, I can't imagine how stressed out I would be lol. Was it difficult to put a liner on it?

Thanks guys! For the most part, I put about 2 hours a night for about a month, then I had to do a ton of frogging!! That happened right before I got really sick, and spent about 6 straight sick days working on it.
The lining was actually super easy to put on, and really helped pull it together as far as some really uneven sides on the afghan itself goes! Cheesy

wow--this is totally awesome!  I think it is the first time I have seen this type of crochet, so thanks for the info and links as well!

It turned out wonderful--and I bet lining it helps also to keep it strong and safe for many many years!

Great job!

Ahhhh I love it! Audrey is amazing of course... quite a beautiful blanket... I like the idea of lining it! Did you sew the lining and if you did.. was it hand sewn or machine? Did the machine take the crocheted part ok? Terrific job!

Thank you! Cheesy
I sewed the lining using my sewing machine, and it went through actually really smoothly!

THAT IS GORGEOUS!  I have a friend who would die for that.  I really like the idea of lining it with fabric.
