Recently for the OWS swap, claire313 wanted an embroidered sweater inspired by this one at Anthropologie:

http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?id=18497677&navAction=jump&search=true&parentid=SEARCH_RESULTS

Here is my interpretation:

I used a cotton sweater from Target and cotton DMC embroidery thread.  Embroidering on the stretchy material was a bit tricky.  I drew the design on water soluble stabilizer and put that on top of the sweater.  And another sheet of the stabilizer underneath the sweater in the hoop.  The stabilizer all rinsed away nicely when I was done.  To prevent the backside threads from showing (and to keep them from getting snagged on whatever was worn underneath), I lined the inside (just from the shoulders to the bottom of the embroidery) with t-shirt material.

Stitches included running stitch, backstitch (with a second thread looped through), chain stitch, feather stitch, stem stitch & french knots.

Thanks for looking!  Grin

Looking for a vintage magazine (1974 - 1978) that has a fabric nativity set w/ people and animals. An example: http://www.craftster.org/pictures/showphoto.php?photo=440861&ppuser=143144.

Wowee-wow-wow.  I like it!  Thanks for the info on how you stitched on the knit and lined it.  Beautiful.  Lucky partner.
