Would an altered book journal - with pages prepped and ready to go for just writing - work?
Just wondering...

I guess that depends on your partner - me, I like to use watercolors, so I need a thicker paper. If your partner only uses dry media then it would probably work just fine.

Pogo! Join in!

I thought it would be fun, by way of introduction to each other, and to help get the stalking and idea generation going, to post some pictures of our journals. Here's a couple of pics of mine.

First: this is the outside of my everyday book, showing my supplies

Here you can see my myriad pens, under which is a pocket for: (top down) circle template, stickers, journalling prompts bookmark. On the side there is my tiny watercolor kit. It's all sitting on my kitchen island which is where I journal most of the time.

Here's a couple of the more finished looking pages, showing you what I 'do' in my journal. Smiley

On this day, we were sitting out on the patio, and the kids were making me plasticene sculptures. I drew each one as it was finished and before they mashed them up to make something new.

On the left is one of my favourite subjects: my backyard birds. On the right is a line from one of my favourite songs right now, I may yet go back and fill in the blank spaces on the page.

Though I put something in my book every day, I don't keep it in a linear format, I skip ahead pages, go back and fill in blank spaces, improve on old sketches, add colour, etc. I never tear them out. Some days I write more, some days no words at all. I always try to caption my drawings, and date them (for the record)

So what do you think - will you share too?
I think that this swap has a very personal element to it, after all, for most of us our journals are private. So if you're going to let someone else start a journal for you, it's only fair to give a peek inside. Smiley

I'm in and totally excited! I just made my first handbound journal a couple weeks ago but I've been keeping art journals for over a year now.

I use mixed media- mostly acrylics, collage and such. I usually keep seasonal journals (one for summer, another for fall, etc.) that document my day to day life. I usually have lots of writing, but more recently I've been making more "art" pages. I started with altered books and my last one was a large Canson mixed media spiral book; I think I prefer the smaller sizes so I don't feel overwhelmed.

I have a blog where I post all of my pages (link in signature)

Why do all the awesome swaps happen at the same time? I am in the advent calendar swap and now I am going to have to decide between this swap and the 12 days of christmas swap Sad I love bookbinding and art journaling
