Check out my awesome new bench!

Here's the story...
We recently moved into a new apartment and we have a lot of space in our front entrance. I wanted a bench to put there because it's always nice to have somewhere to sit to put on shoes. I looked at a couple stores and couldn't find anything for under $100! That's way too much for my unemployed self so I started checking out thrift stores for either an old bench or table that would make an ok bench. I finally found something last week. This is what it looked like:

Pretty ugly. I figured that it was once a coffee table because of those slanted legs. The top was wrapped like a gift with fabric and stapled a million times! It was crazy how many staples there were to remove. Once I got it all off though, I found out that it was, indeed, a coffee table.

I also got lucky and found that you could screw the legs in straight, which I think is a much better idea for a bench that people will be sitting on! I pulled out some ikea fabric I had in my stash and whipped up a quick cover. I was a little lazy and didn't hem the bottom edge, but I did fold it under nicely and then staple it at the end rather than do a ridiculous full wrap job like the last people. The whole project took under an hour and I'm so pleased with it!

I hope you like! C&C always welcome. Smiley

This is awesome!  I love thrift stores.  They always have tons of stuff for super cheap.  All you need is a little imagination.

So cute! That looks a million times more stylish now. Your story was so funny, about the previous owner's attempts to staple it into oblivion. Nice job! Cheesy

Beautiful!! Good choice on straightening out the legs, and you did an awesome job with the padding/fabric
