i know that you say you don't use patterns for the skirts, but how do you get that classic lolita 'bell' shape?! i'm very new to machine sewing and i've never been able to make anything that doesn't pooof out at the bottom like a 1950's poodle skirt

annachronism, for my skirts, I just cut two rectangles (of 45 or 60W fabric, so total I get skirts that are 90-120" wide) and gather them on the top with my ruffling foot, put on a waistband, and viola!  Or, I just flip a couple inches down and put in some elastic at the top.

Dr. Sews, the three jobs thing is relatively new, and I've been doing a fair bit of sewing for two of the three places (I've made some bonnets and bloomers for the vintage shop, Halloween and Oktoberfest are coming up!  And I make boleros for the boutique) so lately I haven't accomplished much in the way of personal sewing or stuff for my online shop.  Let's just say that I pretty much don't have a social life.

These are LOVELY! I'm intrigued by Loli but really can't wear it (too old, too conservative!) tho I LOVE sewing it up for others. However, I'd happily be seen in public in the whole Lamp outfit. That's my fave, but they're all wonderful. And you're using my favorite skirt pattern, too!  Gotta love straight seams and elastic waistbands and my ruffling foot!   "Rock"ing this!

Look's like you've got an outfit for every occasion, you must have a lovely closet full of Ribbons and Ruffles and Lace. I would love to raid your closet. I've dabbled into Lolita-type outfits but never was really happy with the outcome so I haven't really tried much.
