I hope I am putting this in the right category, but it is jewelery after all...
I recently made a bracelet out of my horse's tail hair. I thought I'd post it here because when I got the idea I couldn't find a tutorial on the web.
I don't know anything about making jewelery and I am sure there is a more elegant way to do this but this is very quick and simple and definitely suitable for beginners  Smiley. A bracelet like this would be a lovely keepsake for any horse lover!

Just braid a few strands of tail or mane hair together, glue the ends so the braid won't come undone, put the ends of the braid in a clasp and add some more glue...done!

I've been wearing my bracelet constantly for weeks and so far it is very durable and I am very happy with it.
There is a pretty detailed tutorial on my blog with pictures as well: http://tidytipsy.wordpress.com/2010/08/15/horsehair-bracelet-tutorial/
I hope this encourages other horse lovers to make their own bracelets!

Thanks for looking  Cheesy
Kristina

As an animal lover and having been around horses a lot when younger, I think this is fabulous! I wish I had seen this tutorial about 25 years ago! I also wish I'd seen it earlier this year before my long haired dog died as I'm sure I could have done something similar with some of her tail hair, although I'm not sure it would have been as durable as horse hair.

Great idea, lovely bracelet!
