Mom I Want to Craft Too - Sharing your kids crafts and craft ideas for kids

Erm.. Don't tackle me down, but....

Can't we just post crafts that the kids have made in the appropriate folder? Like, if your son learned how to knit, and knit his first swatch, wouldn't it seem logical to post it on the knitting board? Like, I've seen people post things their parents, friends, siblings, etc. have made. I just really don't see why kids need a separate board, IMHO.

Well, here's how I see it. I work at an after school program, and I'm always looking for new ideas for craft projects to do with my class. And yes, if I feel like doing a sewing project, I can search the sewing board for projects that would be appropriate for kids, but it would take an awfully long time to wade through all the things that are too hard for kids. If there were a board specifically for projects to do with kids, it would make it a whole lot easier to find them.

The other reason I would like to see a kid's board in particular, rather than posting them under already existing boards with the adult projects, is that Craftster is an inspiration source for many, and while we might appreciate our 5 year old's knitted swatch, it doesn't necessarily belong with the other Completed Projects. If our five year old made a potholder or something, it would fit more with the other, finished projects. As proud as parents and caregivers are, most kid's crafts are, sadly, still not necessarily appreciated by the kidless.

Also, many kid's crafts are not functional, working pieces. They are decorative, but still not exactly in keeping with the More Art, Less Craft board.

A perfect example was posted, I believe in Clothing, of someone's young child learning to sew on a paper heart (sorry, can't find it now! Argh!). Not Clothing, but where else would you put something like that?

I don't know. I doubt the board will be made, but it would be nice.

i'm a future elementary school teacher (almost done with college  ) and i think it would be cool to have a board for children's crafts and also crafts that teachers make/develop for their students. it might give us teachers ideas for lesson plans!

As an after school and summer camp counselor, going on five years now, I would love to help out other teachers with my expertise!  Ok, the word "expertise" sounds arrogant, but honestly I have tons of experience in this subject.  I'd even volunteer to moderate the board, if it's feasible whilst having a full time job.

Yay! I'd also be willing to moderate.  I'm in college and I only work part-time so I do have a lot of free time (that i usually spend on craftster  )

I think that there should be board where we can let the little Craftsters in our lives, post their crafts, and sign up for swaps using the mother's name.  Obviously the parent would have to help and be responsible for the swap, and other details would have to be worked out...but I know that TONS of kids would love to have a place to show off their crafts and do a swap package on their own.

I noticed that this thread is really old.  Has a kid board every been started?  My son is finally starting to pay attention enough to do some easy crafts and I would love a board to share ideas and find new crafts that are little kid friendly.  For instance, I found an idea online somewhere using squirt bottles and kool aid to decorate plain white shirts.  My 2-year-old will love doing it!  I was just looking for more ideas and was really hoping craftster would have a board for me to talk to other parents.
