RRRChallenge1: Tank top to Purse For 3.00!

I saw this tut online for a tank top turned into a purse.  I'm making a new purse but it's not done yet and I wanted something different than the old stained one. I made some modifications of course in typical me fashion.
And I made this one!

The tank I got is a clearance OP tank from wal*mart.

I turned it wrong side out and used cotton crochet thread to gather the bottom along the hem. That brought it in pretty tight but not all the way. there was still a small hole where the fabric just couldn't gather any tighter.

So I cut a circle out of felt and covered the hole in the bottom. I machine stitched it in place but honestly hand sewing would have been easier.

Then I carried the bag around for a few days but the straps stretched out from the weight of my junk and the all ready thin straps felt like they were cutting into my shoulders. So I added a grosgrain ribbon around the inside of the straps. Simple fix took less than 10 minutes and the bag is so comfy now.

Yes I have a lot of junk and it's all important.
I am thinking of cutting the bottom about 6 inches shorter and redoing it. then using the leftover fabric to make a pocket. Still haven't decided if I want to line this one or not but I definitely will line the next one!

Nope. I intend to find tank tops at thrift stores to use from now on but thi is what I had available to me at the time.
