I just wanted to share these slipper things I made the other day, based off the shoes here: http://earthandliving.blogspot.com/2008/08/viking-shoes-tutorial-sort-of.html

I tweaked the pattern a bit to make them flats:

Front

Back

On

I bought leather remnants from the craft store so it was under $5 and the cording to tie up the shoes was about $5 so total it was about $10 Smiley

They're more suitable as house slippers, but I want to try to make another pair with thicker leather and maybe a shoe sole so they can be worn outside without my feet dying.

Those are so cute!  I read her tutorial, and did you just cut sort of straight where she had the "ears' on hers?  I like the flat or moccasin style of yours, without the lacing across the top of the foot (I hate things across the top of my foot!)  Would love to try this soon.

I love these! I like leather shoes, they make you able to "feel" every little thing when you walk.

I just found the tute on instructables and marked it to try. I do like your tweak better then having to tie them. I'm putting them on my 2011 list to do, I think I'm going to do a mock up pair first before I sacrifice my leather.

Super cute! These are fabulous house shoes, perfect for entertaining. I never want to put shoes on at my house, but if I'm having a party I want something on my feet. I think I even have some leather lying about...thanks for the link!
