OoOo What I could do with this!

A friend of mine owns a junk yard. They throw out tons and tons of keys all the time b/c they have "junked" the car. I am trying to think of a crafty way to recycle these keys to save them from the landfill! Any ideas?

I have a lot of old keys too, so I'd love to see the ideas on this one!  I do, however, use some of the keys in my paper crafts-with cards and books and stuff.  They add a nice touch to some things...but I'm not sure what else to use them for!

Windchimes would be fun!

String them up like a beaded curtain?

Remember the plastic charms from the 80's? (Yes, yes, showing my age here...) It was popular to have long strands of these little plastic things hanging from anywhere and everywhere. Maybe do something similar to that, creating a whole line of jewelry from car keys!

I saw a project in a magazine that used keys in a mosaic (in grout) for the top of a wooden box.  I like the wind chime idea also. How about making reverse stencils by laying them on card stock & spraying with glitter paint, blo pens, etc.  Have a good day!

I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead & some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!

Put it in your signature, offer to trade a stash of keys for something you want, like scarapbook paper or yarn or whatnot?
Steampunk jewelry uses keys. Make a frame/glue them on a frame as a border, for a picture of a car?
I do like the windchime idea.

I like all the earlier ideas. I would put 1 or 2 keys on TM Patches & have steampunk style.

Use them for weights, like sewn in the hem of a curtain or whatever to make it hang properly...or I suppose if you fish or something......put a few on a keyring when gifting a little girl with a purse so she can have her own keys.
