This month I have been making pants! I made a lot of little dresses whilst I was pregnant with my daughter, and now that she's a bit bigger she likes to pull the skirts up over her head... so now I need matching pants for all of them.

This is the original pattern (New Look 6718) - almost unaltered, except for a contracting band inside the legs because the dress was reversible and I wanted to use both fabrics for the pants.

And this is a similar pair which I made too tight around the legs. I cut the elastic and was going to rethread it, but they look so sweet as shorts that I've left the legs as they are...

This pair were made out of scraps so I couldn't use the pattern. They only just do their job, but the ribbon casing for the waist elastic makes them super comfortable (I think - she looks happy when she wears them!)

After a few pairs I go bored with making the contrast cuffs for the legs - this pair are made with bias tape instead, and shirring elastic for the legs. The only thing which took time was making the bias tape, the pants almost made themselves...

And finally, the ultra-quick version with shirring elastic around the legs and just a little hem...

Thanks for looking! I'm really enjoying the co-ordinated outfits now these are done.

Hi C,

Pants look great! Are they doubled too? Is that what you were doing on holidays? :-)

Lots of love,

Such cute pants!  And I love the fact that your cat is modelling them, a la Vanna White...

Thank you! Yes, my cat really wanted to help and in the end it was easiest just to let her get on with it...

These are all really sweet. I was looking for ideas for pants for my shop. I really like the bias binding edged ones.

These are adorable.  I'd love to see the whole outfit together!  I tried to make these without a pattern and made the legs too tight...twice.  Embarrassed
