I got this bag from a Mexican flea market...it was only about $1 and GREAT to haul all the stuff I bought!!  It's been hanging in my closet for 3 years, because it's not really practical for me to use that often...  so...I busted out the scissors and some needle and thread, then some yarn and a zipper...

Now that is very cool.  You have a great "eye" I would have never pictured that HUGE bag evolving into THAT !!!  I think I have some similar bags in the attic that I bought for the same reason! lol! I may attempt it but it looks a bit difficult for me.
Very impressive Smiley

Thanks everyone!!  I did crochet it with lion brand polar spun yarn...I was a little unsure about it at first, and my sis didn't like it, so it almost didn't happen that way...but I'm GLAD it did!! I Love it!  It wasn't hard at all, I just cut a rectangle, then 'finished' the edges that would be the top of the bag, sew up the sides, then sew the corners to help it stand up, put the snap, crochet the strap, sew it to the zipper then sew it onto the bag...it took a couple of hours because it was hand sewn, and I was REALLY tired while I was crocheting, but it's TOTALLY worth it!!

Cute cute cute!!!  It's a great summertime purse.  I love it that it's kind of see-through.  Wait, it has a snap AND a zipper?  *looks again* ...  Ohhhhh you used a zipper for the strap!  Neat-o!

I'm in Southern California -- gotta look around for one of those giant bags!

Mary wished to say something very sensible, but knew not how.

Wow.
I would've never thought to do that.
The strap reminded me of a belt that you wear with your robe. . .
Maybe that's just me though.
