beat him when he sneezes

I have a really good friend whose birthday is tomorrow. Over the weekend, I decided to make him a present. Ages ago, I bought some fabric with cameos of famous composers on it, as my friend loves classical music, and is a fantastic pianist. I decided to make a cushion for him, but pimp it up a little to personalise it. I embroidered a silhouette of my friend dressed in old-timey clothes, then sewed the embroidery onto the fabric. Here is the finished product:

and a close up of the embroidery of him:

I was kinda surprised by how good it turned out - ie it actually looks a little bit like him!
I love piping on cushions, so I used some musical notes fabric I had for piping:

here he is among the crew:

I gotta admit, I just love how it turned out. I'll be giving it to him tomorrow - can't wait to see his reaction  Grin

He might pee when he sees it, too.  What a wonderful surprise gift, so personal.  The idea to integrate your own design into the fabric is brilliant.  Just really cool.  Cool

*Update* I gave my friend the cushion last night, and he absolutely loved it. When I first handed it to him, he didn't realise that I had done the middle picture. He looked at the front briefly, then turned it over to look closely at the music score, which is on the back. He started working out the music and humming it. I waited, agog  Sad. Then he turned it over to the front again, and took a closer look. He goggled, and his jaw dropped. Then he looked at me and started laughing.  Cheesy It was JUST the kind of reaction I had been hoping for. Soooo glad he liked it.

Thanks for all the great comments.  I got the fabric online from Hancock's I think. It was ages ago - but I snapped it up, knowing I would make something from it.
