Siren Costumes for community water ballet

So, I've worked with this community based performance art group I co-founded for 11years now, and have gotten pretty good at a few very esoteric things.  I can bang out water ballet costumes super fast, figure out what is doable in roller skates & stretch a buck awful far.  For non-water based shows we use a lotta reconned thrift store stuff, but in the water that's a little impossible.  Many directors/ costumers order unitards & trick them out, but for my Siren ladies this year I worked from scratch, with no pattern & very few measurements.  Considering the time & money constraints I think they turned out cute! 

These gals played Sirens in our campy version of Jason & the Argonauts.  More info about the group can be found here:  www.fluidmovement.o rg.  I went with a different kind of Siren/ mermaid, splitting them in half vertically instead of horizontally.  It looked great with some of our water choreography.

@wewilltaketothesea, SWEET!  It was a super cute show this year. I'll have to post pics of my costume as the Evil King of Colchis!  My little brother was Jason-- he done me proud.

You should! It was a short lived series but the Darling Mermaid Darlings (sisters Lily and Vivian) were fantastic. The last episode of the series ("Kerplunk") features them in all their watery glory.

Did you do the costumes for "War and Fleas"? That is one of my all-time faves!

Yah, I did the can-can squirrel costumes for War & Fleas.  Can I tell you how hard it is to do water ballet with a huge tulle squirrel tail on your back & being 6 months pregnant?  Kinda tough.
