This is my first crochet piece: the Starling Handbag! It's going to be a birthday gift for my Mom.  I mostly knit, and boy, was this a super-quick project!  Wrist kind of hurt after a bit though.  Futuregirl (the author of the pattern) offered excellent video tutorials, which really helped me out while making this. The pattern I used for the flower is called Super Simple Tawashi flower.

I used leftover yarn for this project: Caron SimplySoft in black for the purse and Knit Picks Essential Kettle Dye for the flower.  I'd also like to give a shout out to fellow Craftster SMLounsbury for giving me the 4mm crochet hook in a swap, without which I couldn't have made this!  Cheesy  Onto the pictures.  C&C is always appreciated!

That looks really cool, I especially love the lining fabric.

Thanks! Smiley I thought so too...I'm not personally a fan of pink, but I know my Mom likes it, so it works out great!

Thanks so much! I had a heck of a time finding the perfect fabric.  I took some of the yarn from the flower and held it up to almost every pink/purple/red fabric that Joann's had trying to find a match.  This particular fabric has one of the colors that matches perfectly! I also thought it was cool that the fabric had flowers too (to match with the flower on the front). Yay for things working out so well!!  Grin
