Muppet - me too!  I want all of the colors, and all the sizes, and I want to be able to just looka t them and walk around gluing them on random things, lol.

LC - I saw a bunch of tutorials online about frying the marbles and almost went that route.  I still may play around with it eventually, but I think I'll let you go first so you can gives us tips!  They look so cool when they are done.  Can't wait to see what you come up with!

Frying marbles? I somehow see them shattering. I hope you wear eye protection! This is why I love this site... You learn about more crazy crafty stuff every day!
As for figuring things out as I go, that's been my life story!

http://www.ehow.com/how_5140766_make-fried-marble-jewelry.html  That's a link to an article all about frying marbles, what to do with them, etc, and has some pictures of it too.  Looks pretty cool!

http://createstudio.blogspot.com/2009/09/science-experiment.html  This link is way better, though, so if you're only gonna check out one make it this one.   Grin  It's a fellow crafter's blog and has great pictures!

looks cool.  Some opinions on the frying marbles....the technique for heating them up first and then dumping them in icy water will probably work best from a scientific point of view.  The freezing and then heating will work, but only in small areas of the marble, on the side touching the pan.  Plus, the dumping in icy water has the added benefit of somewhat trapping shards that may crack off and fly at you.  You would still want to wear eye protection while frying, however, as they could shatter in the pan.
