Hi everybody!

I’ll post here my tutorial for the unsweet cookies. I improvised this recipe few months ago, so this post is an exclusive! Hehe Smiley My english is still not so good, so sorry for mistakes Smiley And thank my hubby for help with the photos Smiley

You need:
Butter – 200gr;
Eggs – 2 pcs;
Sugar – 2 Tbsp;
Salt – 1 Tbsp;
Flour – 500gr;
Garlic, some cheese, cumin.


So, let’s go! Put butter in a bowl and kindle it. Make it cool.

Put eggs, salt and sugar in another bowl. Mix them.

Add kindled butter, mix one more time.
Add the flour small portions, mix.

You should have a smooth viscous dough, which does not stick in hand.

Now divide it on two parts. First part roll to the thickness 0,3-0,5cm. Cut the cookies. I have no a special form, so i use a glass Smiley

Put your cookies to a pan, sprinkle every cookie cumin and put a piece of a cheese. You may use grated chees, but my hubby likes this variant.

Bake in oven for 20 minutes at 180C (356F).
While first part of cookies is baking, we will prepare the second.
Take a garlic. A lot of garlick! Smiley Clean it.

Using a press for garlic, squeeze out garlic in the center of the remained dough.

Mix it by your hands. Remember, that garlic have a very strong  smell, so if you don’t want your hand smells garlic, use a thin gloves. Don’t worry, cookies will not smell so strong Smiley

Roll it, cut the cookies, put to a pan.

Bake in oven for 20 minutes at 180C (356F).
And this is our cookies:  cheese and garlicky.

It’s the best addition to vegetable soup or beer. But they are good to the tea or coffee, if you don’t like very sweet cookies.

I would treat these a lot like crackers, I think. Put some mustard and turkey on them or something. Cheesy

For those of us in the US or others who prefer to use the "cups" system, 200 grams of butter is about equivalent to 1 cup of butter and 500 grams of flour is about 4 cups of flour.

And these sound delicious! I will hopefully get a chance to try these out this coming week ^_^ Maybe with some spaghetti (especially the garlic ones!)...

tcmatteson, i know about "cups" system. in Russia we prefer the "glass" system (1 glass = 250gr) Smiley so, i use a neutral grams in my recipe;) And thank you Smiley

I use our russian cheeses: "Rosijsky" and "Kostromskoy", i think, you can use your own favorite Smiley

These look great!

Tip to get garlic smell off your hands: squeeze a little lemon juice on them and rub it around, or rub your hands on something stainless steel. (I think the lemon juice method works a little better)  Smiley

i get about 20 cheese and 20 garlicky cookies (1 pan of each type).

i never store them more than 2-3 days Smiley but i always put them into a big bowl on the table and nothing more.

I understand how these can be "cookies" rather than "crackers."  I'm madly in love with Carr's Whole Wheat Crackers, which are not "crackery" at all, so I'm thinking that I'm going to ADORE these "cookies" too! Coming up with different toppings will be SO FUN! The recipe is wonderfully basic and totally adaptable to whatever may be in my pantry.

For not being your first language, your English is finest-kind, as they say. And your husband's photos are hilarious! 

And I'm currently drinking tea out of a Pyrex measuring cup (any port in a storm, eh?), and for the record, 1 cup = 250 mL.  Says so right in front of me. *grin*
