Garden Scarf- flower A question

I'm 2 steps into my first project and I'm already having trouble!

The instructions say Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in sc, ch 4, sk next 2 sc; rep from *around, sl st in the first sc to join--- 8 ch-4 loops.

I understand everything until 8 ch-4 loops. Can someone please explain that last step, please?

That is not a step, that is a confirmation of what you should have done on that round.  So, once you finish the instructions that you understood, you should be able to look at your piece and see 8 loops made up of "ch4".  If you don't, then you've missed something.  If you do, you can go on to the next round secure in the knowledge that you're on the right track. ^_^
