Via the magic of google and a little youtube, I learned how to crochet a couple weeks ago and since then I can't stop!  (I used a similar method to learn to knit several years ago).  Anyway, I decided to try my hand at a patternless project, and this is what I got.

Subsequent versions could certainly use some revision, but I thought he was pretty cute!  The eyes definitely need some work, but I like the crazy look.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure there are much better patterns out there, but I did write down my steps if anyone wants it.

you know, the more I look at this picture, the more I think he would be much cuter as a jellyfish with a bit of modification...I'll get on that and report back Smiley
Okay, here's the jellyfish version.  I realized once it was finished that the color is less than ideal, it slightly resembles an oversized sperm cell!  sigh..I really need to get to a yarn store.

oh my! what an adorable octopus! I especially love his curly tentacles <3
Sorry, I'm not a crocheter, so I can't really help you with tips and such. :/ But looking at how nice he turned out, I think I'll start teaching myself how to crochet via Google as well. :3
