This is my first time posting finished projects that weren't part of a CAL.

The first hat I made (which I've been thinking of as the Butterfly Garden Cupcake), was made using Caron Simply Soft in "Bone" for the base & Lion Brand Jiffy in "Coral Gables" for the frosting. The butterflies are made from random assortments of yarn & the flower was made using Bernat Baby Coordinates in "Lemon Custard"

This is the first hat before I attached the butterflies and flower.

This is a view of one of the butterflies and the flower. The hat wasn't wanting to stand for decent photos.  Smiley

The second hat I made (I call it the Strawberry Delight Cupcake) was made using Caron Simply Soft in "Bone" for the base & Lion Brand Pound of Love in "Pastel Pink" for the frosting. I used Caron Simply Soft in "Chocolate" and "Off White" for the vanilla & chocolate sprinkles.

And, finally, the cloche hat. I used Lion Brand Pound of Love yarn in white & Lion Brand Jiffy yarn in "Rose Spray" for the flower.

Thanks for looking. I used free patterns found on the internet for all the hats so if anyone is interested and likes them, let me know. I'll be glad to post links for everything.  Grin

noooitaremybirthday: Thank you

cyndiq:
The link for the flower is here: http://www.craftstylish.com/item/4325/how-to-crochet-a-flower-part-1
To make it three layers, I then added a round of sc & ch-6. Then, for each petal (in the ch-6 spaces), Sl st, HDC, DC, 5 TC, DC, HDC, and sl st.

The cloche hat: http://www.get-hooked.net/free-patterns/peek-a-boo-flower-hat/. Keep in mind, this one had holes so it'll show the girl's head, but it's great for summer wear.  Smiley

And finally, the cupcake hats: http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2010/01/how-to-crochet-cupcake-hat.html. And this one, which is really great, comes with a video so you can watch it over & over. The video does take a while to load, though. Also, I found her instructions for sprinkles incredibly confusing.

Also, I couldn't find the link for the butterflies, but they're very simple and they're very cute as a decoration. Here's the pattern:
Make an adjustable ring.
Big wing one: Chain 3. 3 TC, Chain 3. Sl st.
Small wing one: Chain 2. 2 DC. Chain 2. Sl st.
Small wing two: Sl st. Chain 2. 2 DC. Chain 2. Sl st.
Big wing two: Chain 3. 3 TC. Chain 3. Sl st.
Pull tight & fasten off. Then, tie a knot & cut off ends.
You can either wrap a contrasting yarn around for the body or use chenille stems (pipe cleaners) like I did.  Grin

Hope that helps. Smiley

Cyndiq,
I'm not sure about the fit. I made the hat band according to directions & it fit perfectly on a three year old girl. I worked the rows for the band until they measured 19". If you need it larger than that, you may need to work more rows depending on the age of the person. For the frosting, I just followed the pattern. In worsted weight, it fits comfortably on a three year old. For the other hat, I was using a bulkier yarn and a larger hook so it turned out bigger, but will perfectly fit the four year old I made it for. However, I had to bunch up the frosting a bit to sew it to the band, so keep that in mind.
Here is a link I found very useful which gives approximate sizing for crochet hats: http://crochet-mania.blogspot.com/2008/04/newborn-head-circumference-13-14-hat.html
As for the summer cloche, I followed directions mostly, but continued to repeat row 3 until it comfortably fit me...then it shrunk a little in the wash and fit tight so I gave it to the same three year old (my best friend's daughter).
I can tell you the cloche took maybe four or five hours to make, but I crochet slow & kept getting distracted. The cupcake hats took longer because I had to stitch together the band & frosting, plus it works up a little slower because it's a tighter pattern. Grin
Hope that helps you.
