I am doing an embroidery project on Flickr, and my chosen theme is Sideshow Acts.

I chose to stitch up a fabulous Fat Lady for my inspiration piece.  I based the piece on Dolly Dimples http://thehumanmarvels.com/?p=48, an early-mid century sideshow act.  I changed her skintone and hair mostly because I wanted to stitch a French knot afro Tongue

She is stitched on vintage white cotton fabric that I tea-stained with a lemon dream herbal and masala chai mixture.  It gave a great vintage effect, complete with random "rusty" blotches. She was a pretty quick stitch, only taking 2 days from design to completion.

I love her, and you did such a good job on the afro, it was the first thing I noticed in the thumbnail.  Smiley

Thank you both Smiley She was so much fun to stitch.

And thank you, KittyKill for your help in deciding how to do the feathers.  I used one strand of the dark royal purple (same as the ALIVE text and weight border), along with a single strand each of pale lilac and lavender.

I adore her so much! The hair is fantastic as is all of the detail in her face. I'd steal her in a heart beat!
