I've been trying for the longest time to find a decent doll pattern that is similar to a Waldorf doll, and I finally found my answer while messing around with some old ripped socks my mom let me keep for sewing.  The general shape, once stuffed and needle sculpted, gave me the form I was looking for, and I continued on to make a beta version of the dolls I plan to continue crafting.

Now, I present the lovely Lucy, who taught me how to needle sculpt, make the yarn wig properly from ghilie's tutorial, and make hidden button joints.

Head shot

She has hidden button joints (yay posing!) and her clothing is the result of my laziness. Tis just a stretchy pant leg for the bottom and a velvet sleeve for the top, with some costume jewelry I found in a box. The belt is the remains of a military hat's straps, with a little button from it holding it on.  Neither bit of clothing has been hemmed yet; I plan to fix that soon once the sewing machine my grandmother gave me decides to function again.

Nekkid Lucy showing off my first attempt at needle sculpting.  Her chest was the hardest part, but I'm pleased with how she came out.  Her arms and legs were made from baby socks, which we have in abundance, and thus are a wee bit dirty from my baby brothers running around with only socks more often than not.  Her little belly button is a faceted green button, and actually looks pretty nice when the velvet top is folded into a tube top.  But the socks that make her legs are a pair I've been trying to get from my mom for almost three years.  I mean, look at them!!  They're freakin' epic!!

Well, here's the last shot of Lucy, doing a little dance for you.  Hope y'all like her!
