Alright, I made a version of this bag that looks like a circus exploded.  Wink

This is the third bag I've made with this tut. I love it, but I screw up the handle every single time.  Ahh well.

What a fun bag! I love the fabric and the added rick rack (sp?).

Ahh, I love that bag, jungrrl!! Especially the ric-rac- it's something so simple, yet I'd never think of it!!

I've had this bookmarked for freakin ever and now I really have to try it!

I laughed out loud when I read this!  I made a bag last year, which I referred to as a "celebration bag", but hubby and son called in a "clown bag" and "circus purse", respectively!  But yours is very, very adorable, especially the little tiger!  And, I agree about the rickrack...nice touch and one of the more reasonably priced trims to buy.  Great work!  Smiley

I'm new to sewing, at least beyond modifying a few guy t-shirts. So, I made a journal cover, and then went straight to trying this bag. Here's my results: (sorry, my first post and I can't actually put the pictures up)

first attempt, kind of shoddy but it was my first. i was confident enough to add modifications of my own and it worked!

second attempt. I did this one for my mom for mother's day, a little deeper with pockets on the inside because she always has a junkyard in her bag. this one turned out perfect, to me.

this one turned out the best. I got a little braver and attempted the d-rings but I didn't really leave enough slack to attach it to the bag, and broke a needle in the process. You live you learn...

I made a wallet, (kind of took a shot in the dark as far as designing it went- I needed one that would hold a passport) the other night using interfacing, and the card slots and everything are great but I know this thing isn't going to hold up. I have a hard time making perfectly straight lines and all that, and I want my stuff to at least last a while, not just 3 months.
I really want to screenprint my own fabrics and do this stuff too, but I think I need some more solid projects to practice on first.... any suggestions on what I should do to improve what I'm doing already, or some good warm up projects?

I'm at the zipper part of this bag and I'm terribly nervous about attaching everything.  I think I made it harder on myself, because I'm using a third fabric for the zipper and handles.  The zipper I'm using is 14in because the Sporty zippers work better with me than the purse zippers.  They were out of 12in and the next size was 7in... much too small if you carry a lot of stuff!
Anywho, will post pics once Dulcinea receives it!  Wink
