Hi! I'm working on my wedding that's taking place 03.12.11 and I'm making a crapton of stuff. (Here's some of my other projects: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=348478.msg4061869#msg4061869)

The thing I've been most excited about is this bouquet! I'm actually more excited about this than my wedding dress lol. The only thing that isn't finished about it is it's not wrapped in any fabric. Once my dress is altered, I'm planning on wrapping the scraps around the stem. Right now, its covered in black duct tape, which isn't very festive. here's some pictures!

View from the top

With lovely duct tape covering up several pounds of floral wire.

This is the side i'm going to have in front!

All in all, this bouquet weighs 3.2 lbs, which is actually lighter than I thought it would be! thanks for looking!

Oh don't worry! The girl who helped put all this together is also my photographer, so there will be a ton of pictures! I can't wait!

I don't know if they count as heirlooms, but my grandmother gave me some of the pins like the small clocks and the pearl wreath and the copper circle. Also, Jared's mama donated some of her mother's pins as well as her mother-in-law's pins who recently passed. Plus, some of her own. It's really been amazing all the people who have given me things for this. I love how everyone could be a part of this!

So very clever and gorgeous.  I may still make a bouquet just to put in a vase - it's too wonderful an idea not to plagiarize  Wink

It's not that I don't want to swap, it's that I often don't have time.  But feel free to ask (especially if it's one that's not too time consuming).

I'd love to see yours! I've been pretty much obsessed with this idea since I saw a picture of one online somewhere. I wish this was my idea! lol

I travel and play music on the road all over and people heard about my project and mailed me brooches from everywhere! This really has been a labor of love lol I'll definitely post a picture of everything put together. I'm planning on making a giant thread of everything after the wedding!

I just saw this idea the other day while I was checking out various blogs.  I was actually at Value village yesterday scoping out the jewelry selection.  You did an awesome job, your creation is beautiful.  I hope that your dress is super special because it's going to be competing with that bouquet!

This was the third attempt at this actually. The first time, I thought I could attach the brooches to a round piece of plastic mesh. DISASTER. It wasn't even round! then the girls that get together with me for Crafty Tuesday and I tried to make two hemispheres. Bad idea too because there was a gap between the two halves. Finally, Jess (the most awesome crafty girl ever) thought it would be a good idea to start in the middle and work our way around. That was much more successful! We clumped the brooches together and then attached the clumps to each other along with adding some every once in a while to fill in holes. Every so often, we added strips of duct tape to hold pieces together and then we wrapped it again after they were all attached!

YES, YES, YES!!!!!  This is the most original and resourceful bouquet I've seen yet.  It is beautiful.  I would have a hard time taking my eyes off of it through he whole wedding day!

You can keep it forever and it can be passed on.  Also it could be taken apart and the pieces could be used for other things.
