The "wedding cake" skirt! - a tiered broomstick skirt

Hey all,

here is my fabulous new skirt/dress!  I mostly wear it as a skirt, but on photo day, it was rather hot out and I was feeling more dressy.  It is made out of crinkly, super light cotton.   I used this tutorial http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=323055.0 as my direction for general proportions to cut out.  I was also (as usual) inspired by many of my husband's suggestions and it is he who has christened it the "wedding cake" skirt (if you have seen the post I did for our wedding, you'll understand why!)...

The top band is smocked. I tried to size it so it would work as the top of a dress but still be reasonably flattering as the waistband of a skirt.

It is very full, floaty, cool and bright.

Twirly!  You get an idea of the fullness.  This was about 6 metres of fabric total, which very minimal left over.  Sorry for the sun spot!
