My dad (of all people, lol) bought me these really adorable pink Dollhouse heels a few years ago.  The thing is, though, I don't really wear pink...ever...and although I loved the shape and style of the shoes, I never wore them out.  Then, while I was trying to scrounge up some money to buy some new shoes, I came to the conclusion that they just weren't in the budget, so I started looking for ways to revamp something I already owned.

I was really unsure about painting these in the beginning, because they had some shiny coating on them and are almost a vinyl material.  Then it dawned on me: Krylon for plastic!  One quick trip the store, a couple bucks and a hour later, this is what I had:

For some reason my camera ate the rest of the pics I had of these so as soon as the sun comes up tomorrow I'll get some pics of both of them painted and you can see the full effect.  But for now, you get the idea right?

I love them so much more now, I have worn them non stop and the paint hasn't cracked or chipped or anything else that I was half expecting it to do.  They are my new favorite item in my closet, and the best part is when people ask me where I got them and I tell them the spray paint story...no one really believes me, but every one loves them anyway!   Grin

Thanks guys!!!  I love them...and since I didn't wear them anyway, I figured the worst that could happen is I'd have to throw them away if they looked too bad, lol.

oh my--another bethieb special! Cheesy

Let us know how the paint holds up--they have such great paint now!

I do have to tell you that my hubby had a pair of white canvas shoes when we were first married...we had to go to a formal dinner and we had no money for new shoes...he painted them with a magic marker...ta-da...but when we got to the hotel, he stepped in a puddle--no big deal...until I looked at the carpet and saw that wherever he stepped, he left a shoe print!!!  I was horrified but we still laugh at his painted shoes story! Cheesy

good job kiddo--cute shoes and practical!

Definitely better in black! I'll have to look for the Krylon, as my last shoe dyeing attempt ended in failure.  Thanks for the tips, Bethie! Great shoes!

Those look fab. I looked at the picture first and had to do a quick read through to determine what you DID to the shoes. Lol. I thought for a minute it was 2 different pairs!
